Emily Held

Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC)

    Biography

Emily was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she studied early childhood education while working as a teacher assistant in an elementary school. She then moved on to study Applied Behavior Analysis and work as Registered Behavior Technician and provide ABA therapy for children with autism. She met her husband and he joined the Army. She then continued her education online with Liberty University.
When she became pregnant with their first daughter she found her passion for breastfeeding. She researched as much as she could during pregnancy but after her daughter was born she went through her own breastfeeding struggles. She was able to overcome them and breastfeed her first daughter for 25 months. She found that so many other moms also struggle with breastfeeding and that there was a lack of support and education for new moms. She decided to become a Certified Lactation Counselor so she can help mothers achieve their breastfeeding goals. After earning her CLC, she volunteered to open a chapter of Global Military Lactation Community where they were stationed. She held biweekly breastfeeding support group for the local community. She then had her second daughter and moved to Fort Liberty, NC. She nursed their second daughter for 22 months and weaned during the first trimester of her third pregnancy with their third daughter. Emily is so happy to support the moms of this community and loves doing prenatal consultations to help prepare them for breastfeeding.
